End-terrace and semi-detached house loft conversion
We provide structural design for end-terrace and semi-detached house loft conversions, including dormers and hip-to-gable roof alterations. Where a hip-to-gable conversion is proposed, the new gable can be constructed in masonry or timber framing to meet the architect’s requirements. Where timber framing is selected, the necessary steel supports can be concealed within the wall and roof construction to maintain a clean internal appearance. We design the steel beams, timber joists, roof members and structural connections while checking that the existing walls can safely support the additional loads.

Detached house loft conversion
We provide structural design for detached house loft conversions, including dormers, roof alterations and double hip-to-gable conversions. Where both sides of a hipped roof are extended, new gable walls can be formed using timber framing with steel supports concealed within the wall and roof construction. Due to the potentially larger spans, we assess existing internal load-bearing walls to determine whether they can safely support additional loft loads. Using suitable existing walls can reduce beam spans, steel sizes and construction costs while maintaining a safe load path to the foundations.
